2011 Update

How can a child learn how to give if he doesn’t know how to receive.

This is our seventh newsletter following our most recent trip to Bahir Dar Ethiopia; once again this year we welcomed Jane who came along for two of our three-week visit.

Our arrival is always full of mixed emotions, the meeting up with old friends is always great but the news they have to tell is not always so great. In this newsletter we will give you some updates, tell you of some new stories but mainly demonstrate how your continuing funding is changing peoples lives.

This year the strength of Sterling against the Ethiopian Bir meant the exchange rate was 27-1, last year the rate was 17–1 good news enabling us to do more with the funding we took out.

We have been told that we have been ‘blessed with a burden’. This is a burden that we are happy to carry for as long as we can see the changes in people’s lives. These changes are only made possible by the continuous support we receive from you.

Year after year when we return we can see how with a little help people are able to turn their lives around and are able to become self-sufficient, which has always been our aim.

As always there are no overheads, no administration costs ‘every’ pound collected gets to the people of Bahir Dar.

We say it every year but the smiles say it all, from the people of Bahir Dar, thank you very much for all your support.
