May 2011 Housing updateTo confirm last year we had built 22 houses and purchased land for four of these. We managed to visit most of these including the land purchase with four houses on it. These four houses looked great all in a row and the families in them had a real community spirit. It was great to see how the people had settled in and how well the majority of them looked now they didn’t have the worry of a place to live, now having a safe and sturdy home. From feedback from previous newsletters housing always generates a great interest. The excellent exchange rate this year meant that despite the increased cost of materials a house can be built for about £200. This year we saw 2 houses constructed during our stay with a further 14 in the pipeline. We also purchased some more land which will also have 4 houses built on it.
Housing still remains our top priority as this enables a family to have security and a degree of comfort, only once they have this can they contemplate employment and education.
Our total housing count is close to 150 over the seven years of our trips.
