June 2016

Always close to our hearts these single mothers come to the Centre for a bowl of porridge for their children and to receive basic education. The plan is to get their children into Day Care once they are toilet trained allowing the mothers to go to work.  We still see many of the mothers from years back when we walk about the countryside many of them are now in work albeit simple day work but the good thing is that they are self-sufficient and their children are in education getting a better start in life. One of our best days when in Bahir Dar is the day we give out clothes to the porridge club, the ladies now expect it but are always grateful and pleased to see their children in new clothes.  This year we were able to hand out the clothes in beautiful bags made by the Bradwell WI. We continue to collect clothes throughout the year and thank all of you who donated clothes for this year’s trip. We welcome donations of any clothing not just for the small children but also for their siblings. Next year we hope to get back to the house building programme and build a few houses for these needy families.
