Where is Bahir Dar?Bahir Dar is situated 578 km north west of Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia.
It is located on the southern shore of Lake Tana, the source of the Blue Nile. The climate of Bahir Dar is hot and dry, with a 3-months season of heavy rains. According to the 1994 population census, the population of Bahir Dar was 96,140, but it has now grown to 138,672 in 2002, with a growth rate of more than 5%.
