Geremew

We would like you to meet a young lady called Geremew. Geremew is 20 she lives in a house built by the housing project with her two brothers aged 9 and 13. Both parents died of AIDS when she was 16 it then became Geremew’s responsibility to bring up her brothers.

She stopped attending school and makes a living brewing a local beer known as Tella. To help her we arranged to have a well dug as each day she had to walk about half a mile to fetch water not good when your livelihood depends on making beer. On the couple of occasions we met Geremew we were always amazed by her generosity in offering us coffee, beer and food when she had very little herself.
