Future Support
The fund raising will continue this year for the next trip
and yes your contributions will be required.
Because of the cost of transporting goods we are being
pushed towards raising more money and purchasing the required
items in Ethiopia, which is good for the local economy and we
will get more for the money. So as well as the running of 10Ks
etc we are thinking of having a couple of boot sales, so any
items you no longer want will be greatly received.
This money will continue to go towards housing (rebuilding
approximately £150) and also schooling and helping the people
to learn a trade. We would also like to buy a couple of
computers for the school which again can be purchased in
Ethiopia for around £250.
Items that we would still like to take out are football
shirts, we can never have enough of these, also sewing bits
(cottons, embroidery silk, needles, hook and eyes and Zips any
size or colour-anything really), books for the school library
(history, science, atlas, general reading books, again anything
really) and seeds.
We also have a separate project that needs our help this
year. Sister Terfatu would like to build a couple of
classrooms, a kitchen and storeroom for the porridge people. They
meet daily and at the moment this is outdoors which isn’t good
in the rainy season.
With the new classrooms not only will they be able to cook
and eat inside but will also have the opportunity of learning a
new skill, embroidery, sewing, typing and how to use a computer
which will then give them the opportunity to generate an income
and support their families.
So if anyone has any ideas for raising funds I would really
appreciate your thoughts and ideas!
